Let’s talk about my favourite books!

I think all of us bookworms have some books that have been with us since we can remember - stories that can be re-read many times and they never disappoint or loose their initial magic. I'm no exception, and today I would like to share with you all my ten favourite books!

1. Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery
I was nine when I got my hands on the entire series. It was a present from my godfather - it's no secret in my family I adore books. It's basically the best present anyone can get me! Over ten years later, and Anne is still with me - in fact, I'm re-reading the series at the moment. As a person with a really vivid imagination and other quirks, I identified with her a lot. She was and still is a source of wisdom to me - many quotes from these books helped me understand some changes in my life and deal with troubles.

2. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Another nostalgic read from my childhood, The Secret Garden is one of those books I go back to occasionally and it always puts a smile on my face.

3. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
While I also enjoy Lord of the Rings and lesser known Tolkien works, The Hobbit has a special place in my heart. Following Bilbo Baggins on his unexpected adventure and witnessing his personal growth is always a special experience, no matter how many times I re-read this masterpiece.

4. Sherlock Holmes works by Arthur Conan Doyle
When I say ‘works’, I mean all the novels and short story collections. I absolutely adore the detective genre, but Sherlock Holmes will always be my favourite fictional investigator, no matter how unoriginal that makes me!

5. The Hitchhikers Guide to Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Science-fiction that doesn’t take itself too seriously with a dash of Monty Python humour - genius combination that makes for an extremely entertaining read.

6. The Dead Zone by Stephen King
This list wouldn’t be complete without Stephen King, but it was difficult to pick a single novel. I finally arrived at ‘The Dead Zone’, as it is a captivating, suspenseful read with with a grain of realism that makes it that much more horrifying.

7. Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
There is something about historically inspired, magical worlds that captivates me, especially if they’re so well designed as Ketterdam here. Full of action and excellently written characters, Six of Crows is extremely easy to love!

8. Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
Magic, lost queens and a fight for a better future - Throne of Glass hits a lot of typical fantasy tropes, and yet it is a refreshing take on the genre. Add in easily likeable, three-dimensional characters and it is no wonder why Maas’ work became so popular.

9. The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare
Having read The Mortal Instruments series, my expectations for its prequel, The Infernal Devices were relatively low. To my surprise, these were a much more compelling read, with an intriguing plot and likeable characters, worthy of this list.

10. The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis
An essential read for any fantasy fan, the earlier in life the better!
